Lexington - Richard A. Culbertson, 77 of Lexington died at 8:26 am, Thursday, December 21, 2023 at his residence in Lexington.

Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be a graveside service and Military Funeral Honors at 11am, Thursday, December 28, 2023 in Lexington Township Cemetery, Lexington; with Pastor Jan Proeber officiating. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is in charge of arrangements.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Lexington Community Center, Lexington.

Mr. Culbertson was born August 13, 1946 in Bloomington, the son of Oscar and B. Elizabeth (Jones) Culbertson Sr.  He married Merlynne Zook on December 22, 1972 in Lexington.  His wife Merlynne, survives in Lexington.

Other survivors include two sons, Robert "Rob" Culbertson of Bloomington; Aaron "Petey" Culbertson of Lexington; one brother, Dennis (Laura) Culbertson of Bloomington; and two step-sisters, Sharon Ferguson and Barbara Loveless both of Gibson City.

His parents, one brother, David Culbertson; one sister, Sharon Culbertson, and step-mother, Anna (Twist) Culbertson preceded him in death.

Mr. Culbertson served our country from 1969 to 1972 as a Sergeant in the United States Army in Vietnam; receiving the Purple Heart.  He was a member of the Lexington American Legion and Chenoa, VFW.  Richard loved farming and was a lifelong farmer in the Lexington area. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
