Obituary

Robert A. Colvin Sr., 72, of Chenoa passed away at 10:37 pm, Friday, October 16, 2009 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

His funeral service will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa with Pastor Robb McCoy officiating. Burial will take place in Chenoa Cemetery, Chenoa with full military rites conducted by the Chenoa VFW post #8350. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday, October 20, 2009 also at the memorial home in Chenoa.

Bob was born April 19, 1937 in Oswego, the son of William and Florence (Tandy) Colvin. He married Alice McGuire on December 24, 1959 in Pontiac. She survives in Chenoa.

Other survivors include; four sons; Michael (Mary) Frizzell, Graymont, Donald Colvin, Chatsworth, Roger (Ronda) Colvin, Ankeny, IA, Robert (Joyce) Colvin Jr., Chenoa, two sisters; Mabel Cottrell, Chenoa, Judy Martin, Colfax, three brothers; Lindy (Shirley) Colvin, Cardwell, MO, Olin (Nancy) Colvin, South Carolina, William Colvin, Gridley, thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, four sisters and one son; William F. Colvin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.

Robert served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was employed for over 20 years as a Correctional Officer at Pontiac Correctional Center, Pontiac. He was a member of the Chenoa United Methodist Church, the Chenoa VFW Post #8350 where he served as Post Commander. Bob loved fishing and spending time with his family and the grandchildren he adored. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
