Bloomington - Robert "Bob" A. Heinrich, 85, of Bloomington, died at 6:55am, Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Heritage Nursing Home, Normal.
A funeral mass will be at 10:00am, Thursday, October 25, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Chenoa. Burial will be in Chenoa Township Cemetery, where military honors will be performed.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa.
Memorials may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, the Catholic Relief Society, or a charity of the donor's choice.
Mr. Heinrich was born January 13, 1933, near Meadows, a son of Simon and Helen Craig Heinrich. He married Beverly A. Henline in Chenoa on February 6, 1956. She preceded him in death on March 20, 2006.
He is survived by four sons, Dana (Pat) Heinrich, Darryl Heinrich, Jeffrey Heinrich, and Gregg (Karen) Heinrich, all of Bloomington; two daughters Maria (Steve) Folk, Cornell and Teresa (Greg) Love, Normal; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Alvin Heinrich; and one sister, Bernice Nix.
Mr. Heinrich grew up on his parent's farm and learned mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and building skills. He attended Chenoa schools. After graduating, he served as a sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. Upon returning home, he was a driver for Nussbaum Trucking for a few years, then was a mechanic for many years at K & S Sales in Fairbury, IL. After moving to Bloomington he managed the garage at TA Truck Stop. He retired from TA only to return and work in maintenance for several more years.
He was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and most recently attended Holy Trinity in Bloomington. He enjoyed fixing anything he could get his hands on and spending time with his family. Mr. Heinrich was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
