Robert William Hoke, 67, a lifelong resident of Wing, passed away at 5:55 pm, Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and a celebration of life service will take place at 11 am, Saturday, September 10, 2011 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Forrest, with Pastor Corinne Blissard officiating. Inurnment will follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Wing, IL.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm, Friday, September 9, 2011 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury, IL.
Bob was born on June 1, 1944 in Fairbury the son of Roy and Dorothea (Gassman) Hoke. He married his wife of 35 years, Ann Marie Gerber, on August 8, 1976 in Forrest. She survives. His parents preceded him in death.
Other survivors include two daughters: Heather Hoke, Rochester, MN; Meredith (Alan) Stutzman, Collinsville, IL; one grandson Aaron Levi Stutzman, Collinsville, IL; and one brother, John (Diane) Hoke, Carbondale, IL.
Bob was a1962 graduate of Forrest-Strawn-Wing High School. He was a Journeyman by trade in the printing industry for 39 years. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Forrest.
Bob enjoyed wood working, grilling out, listening to jazz and blues music, and his daughters playing the piano. He loved to play Scrabble and euchre, and watch old western movies. He was a Ford man and loved dogs. His family and friends were blessed to have had him in their lives. We will miss the wit and humor of our "gentle giant"!
