Obituary

Forrest – Robert "Bob" L. Haab, 90, of Forrest, passed away at 8:42pm, November 29, 2022, at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.

His funeral will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Fairbury. Pastor Brian King will be officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Township Cemetery. Military honors will be performed by the Forrest American Legion.

Visitation will be held 5-7:00pm, Monday, December 5, 2022, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9-9:45am, Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be made to Living Word Church, Roberts, First Baptist Church, Fairbury, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Forrest, or Prairie Central Athletic Boosters.

Bob was born February 24, 1932, in Forrest the son of Edward and Laura Metz Haab. He married Carol Sue Rieger on September 27, 1953, in Forrest. She died November 22, 2014.

Surviving are his children, Nancy (Joe) Lane of Ft. Myers, FL, Robert (Kathy) Haab of Forrest, Kay (Ryan) Shiflett of Fairbury, Gail (Gary) Marten of Broken Arrow, OK, and Mark (Kim) Haab of Fairbury; grandchildren, Brad (Ashley) Haab, Nathan (Krissy) Haab, Joey Lane, Rebekah (Brandon) Westcott, Abby (Zak) Swalley, Rachel Marten, Emily (Raymond Bull) Shiflett, Connor Haab, McKenna Haab; step-grandchildren, Bridgette Alexander and Michelle Clark; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Elenore Ricketts of Fairbury; and sister-in-law, Marylu Haab of Forrest.

Bob was a member of Living Word Church in Roberts and graduated in 1949 from Forrest High School. He served in the United States Army from 1954-1956 and was a member of the Forrest American Legion. Bob farmed in the Forrest area.

He was a softball lover and played for years and coached girls summer softball and church league. He also was an official timer for Prairie Central High School Home basketball games for many years and at Forrest Strawn Wing High School before that.

In 2007 he was inducted into the IBCA hall of Fame for volunteers.
