Fairbury – Robert P. Lawrence, 94 of Fairbury, died at 3:11 am, Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at his residence in Fairbury.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury; with Pastor Daryl Evans officiating and military funeral honors by Fairbury VFW and American Legion.  Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to DAV (Disabled American Veterans).

Mr. Lawrence was born April 27, 1928 in Fairbury; the son of Amos and Myra (Howell) Lawrence. He married Inez L. Meeks on December 12, 1952 in Colfax. His wife preceded him in death on February 2, 2003. His parents, two brothers, Alfred and Howard Lawrence and one son in-law, Michael Huling also preceded him in death.

Survivors include his children, Robert (Karen) Lawrence Jr. of Ellsworth; David (Shirley) Lawrence, Phyllis Huling, Rose (John K.) Gerber and John (Jennifer) Lawrence all of Fairbury; ten grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Robert served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Fairbury VFW and IBMC (International Brotherhood of Motorcycle Campers).  He worked for the City of Fairbury in the water treatment plant for over 20 years. Robert was a quiet man that enjoyed motorcycles and being surrounded by his family.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
