Robert Allen Sikorski, 71, Fairbury, died at 5:30 am Saturday, September 29, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with a prayer service at 4:30 pm and a I.O.O.F. service at 7:00pm. Burial will be in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY at a later date.
Bob was born November 28, 1946 in Fairbury, IL the son of Sigmund V. and Bernice Golembiewski Sikorski. They precede him in death.
Surviving is a sister, Patricia June (Charles Wayne) Cammer, Huntington Station, NY.
Bob was a 1964 graduate of Fairbury-Cropsey High School and a 1968 graduate of Illinois State University, Normal. He served in the United States Air Force retiring with the rank of Captain. After retirement he enjoyed substitute teaching and was active in many community organizations. Bob served 2 terms as an Alderman for the City of Fairbury's 2 nd Ward. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Fairbury and the Knight of Columbus council # 7348, a longtime member of Arrowhead Lodge, Fairbury, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge #290 serving as Noble Grand, Past Noble Grand and Treasurer, the Fairbury Lions Club and was active with the Boy Scouts of America. Bob currently was serving on the committee of Troop #1870 as the Institutional Representative for the Lions Club. Bob had gone on several trips with the troop taking Scouts to the WD Boise Scout Camp on Bach Bay in Ontario, Canada. He also served for many years as a volunteer camp ranger at the camp during the summer. He was a member of an adult crew that traveled to the camp every spring and fall to make repairs and open and close the camp.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given to the OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, St. Jude Children's Hospital or the charity of the donor's choice.
