Obituary
Robert B. Smith, 83, of Ellsworth, passed away July 1, 2008 at 3:56PM at his residence.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 7, 2008 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax from 9:30-11:00AM.
Funeral will be held on Monday, July 7, 2008 at 11:00AM also at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Wiley Cemetery, Colfax.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to BroMenn Hospice or EMCAA.
Robert was born December 21, 1924 in Gridley the son of H.A. "Crick" and Nora C. Cagley Smith. They preceded him in death. He married Gloria Jane Elbert on Feb. 15, 1947 in Bloomington. She died June 1, 1987.
Surviving are three children Lynn Maupin, Keith (Martha) Smith, and Janet Smith all of Cooksville; six grandchildren, Scott (Amy) Maupin, Greg (Beth) Maupin, Sara (John) Smith, Carrie Smith, Hillary (Stephen) Rigsby, and Nora (Claye) Vogelsang; nine great-grandchildren, Shelby, Carley, Kale, Tucker, Calli Maupin, Lyden Smith, Maddux, Baler, and Thayren Rigsby; one brother Virgil (Helen) Smith and one sister Guylan (Jerry) Simpsen both of Bloomington.
Robert was preceded in death by an infant son, daughter-in-law Marrita Smith, brother Kenneth Smith and sister and brother-in-law Waneta and Bud Stockle.
Robert was a lifelong farmer in the Cooksville Ellsworth area. He was the past director of Cooksville Grain and Peoples State Bank of Colfax.
He loved watching the Chicago Cubs and auto racing.
