Fairbury – Rochelle E. Gavin, 75, of Fairbury, passed away at 10:15pm, Thursday, June 4, 2026, at OSF St. James-John Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.

Cremation rites have been accorded with private family services to be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Suicide Awareness or the American Cancer Society. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.

Rochelle was born September 23, 1950, in Lincoln, IL; the daughter of Kenneth and Mary Alice (Montgomery) Mangold. She married John Gavin on October 2, 1976. He preceded her in death on September 13, 2022. Her parents, one brother and two sisters also preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughters, Tonya (Denny) Lewis of Peoria; Leah (Ken Reed) Bailey of East Peoria; and Kathleen Gavin of Fairbury; grandchildren, Sara (Ben) Josleyn, Stephanie (Brandon) Rogers, and Missy Pople; great-grandchildren, Aedan, Adalyn, and Autumn Josleyn and Sebastian James McQuade.

Rochelle was an avid slow pitch softball pitcher in the Peoria and surrounding communities. She was a Chicago Cubs baseball fan and loved the Dallas Cowboys in football. Family vacations were spent camping all over, enjoying family time and making memories. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
