Ronald E. Moore, 75 of Normal formerly of Fairbury died at 8:18 pm, Monday, February 23, 2009 at BroMenn Healthcare, Normal.
His funeral service will be 10:30 am, Friday, February 27, 2009 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with Pastor Knight Wells officiating. Burial will take place in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury with full military rites conducted by Fairbury VFW Post 9789. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Thursday, February 26, 2009 also at the memorial home in Fairbury.
Ron was born in Fairbury, the son of Clarence "Ray" and Lillian Mae (Harl) Moore. He married Cheryl Latzke on May 15, 2004. She survives in Normal, IL.
Other survivors include two sons; Douglas Moore and Michael (Eren) Moore, both of Bloomington, one daughter; Janelle (Travus) Gonzalez, Surprise, AZ, step children; Michael Coppinger, Fairbury, Beth Duesing, Plainfield, IL Kim Muller Urbandale, IA, Susan Blockhus, Brownsburg, IN, eight grandchildren, six step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In Lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to Fairbury VFW Post 9789 or BroMenn CVCU.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Jeanne Vaughan, Janet (Clauss) Filbey and one brother; Walter Moore.
Ron was a veteran of the US Army from 1954 to 1956, during the Korean Conflict. He served 17 months in Korea. He spent most of his life in and around Fairbury, working for Honeggers and Co. until 1986. He then started his own transportation brokerage business, R.E. Moore & Co. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
