Obituary
Ronald E. Walker, 81, Fairbury, died at 5:28 pm Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with Pastor Floyd Blackard officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 pm Friday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. The family suggests memorials be given to the 1st United Methodist Church, Fairbury.
Ron was born June 17, 1933 in Fairbury, IL the son of George and Inez Carter Walker. He married Jane Stevens on November 23, 1957 in Fairbury, IL. She survives in Fairbury.
Other survivors include 2 sons, Matthew (Maricon) Walker, Honolulu, Hawaii, Doug (Patty) Walker, Frankfort, IL, 1 daughter, Amy (Chuck) Feeney, El Paso, IL and 6 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother.
Ron was a 1951 graduate of Fairbury-Cropsey High School and had attended Southern Illinois University and the University of Illinois. After college he enrolled in the United States Air force cadet program.
Ron owned and operated Walker Coal and Oil and Fairbury Scrap Metal for over 40 years. He was a member of the Tarbolten Masonic Lodge and Indian Creek Golf Club, Fairbury. Ron adored his grandchildren, loved his time on the golf course with family and friends and was an avid gardener.
