Obituary

Colfax – Rosemary Stockle, 80, of Colfax, passed away at 10:35am, November 6, 2018, at her residence.


Her funeral service will be held at 11 am, Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Colfax United Methodist Church, Colfax; with Pastor Gifty Roberts Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Wiley Cemetery, Colfax.


Visitation will be 4 to 8 pm, Friday, November 9, 2018, at Colfax United Methodist Church, Colfax. There will be a Rebekah service at 7:30pm to conclude the visitation. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to Colfax United Methodist Church, Colfax.

Rosemary was born December 15, 1937, in Fairbury, the daughter of Ernest and Katherine Obergfel Grace. She married Alfred "Red" Stockle on July 7, 1957 in Fairbury. He died February 12, 2016.


Survivors include the light of her life, her grandson, David Ferguson of Colfax and three daughters, Dorothea "Dot" Stockle of Woodland Hills, CA; Pauline (Daryl) Ferguson of Colfax; Rev. Rachel Stockle of Loda.


Her parents, one brother LeRoy Grace, and infant sister, Pauline Grace preceded her in death.

Rosemary retired after 17 years from Illinois State University as the secretary of the Theater department.

She was a member of the Colfax United Methodist church where she was the chairperson of the Administrative Board and a member of many other committees.

She was also a member of the Charity Home Rebekah Lodge, Fairbury and associate member of the May Queen Rebekah Lodge in LeRoy.

Rosemary was a past Grand Matriarch of Ladies Encampment Auxiliary, where she was bestowed the honor of laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Rosemary was dedicated to her church and her community. She was a founding member of the Eastern McLean County Ambulance Association.

She was an avid Cubs fan since she was eight years old and was able to watch her beloved Cubs win the World Series.
