Roy S. Oliver, 74, Chenoa, died at 1:27 pm Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa with Fr. Carl LoPresti officiating. Burial will be in Chenoa Twp. Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa. The family suggests memorials be given to the Fairbury American Legion Speedway.
Mr. Oliver was born March 15, 1941 in Russellville, AL the son of Howard Lee and Ruby King French. He married Emma Ward on December 29, 1973 in Pontiac, IL. She survives in Chenoa.
Other survivors include seven children, Donald Miller, Cullom, Rick (Deb) Golliday, Pontiac, Buck (Brenda Ballance) Golliday, Chenoa, Dawn Sharp, Bloomington, Geoph Oliver, Lebanon, MO, Douglas (Tammy) Oliver, Chenoa, John (Gina) Henline, Bloomington, 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 1 brother, Howard (Mary) French Jr., Princeville.
He is preceded in death by 1 daughter, Jean Miller, 1 son, William F. Miller, 2 grandsons, Kyle Sharp, Tyler Friant and 3 half sisters.
Mr. Oliver worked in the maintenance department at Interlake Steel, Pontiac for 38 years retiring in 2005. He was a NASCAR and stock car racing fan that enjoyed fishing.
