Obituary

Ruby Irene Sweet-Zeller, 94, a resident of Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa and formerly of Fairbury died at 2:10pm Sunday, September 8, 2013 at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.

Funeral services will be 3:00pm Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with the Rev. Dr. Randall Perry officiating. Burial will be in Wiley Cemetery, Colfax.

Visitation will be 1:00 to 3:00 pm on Wednesday at the memorial home in Fairbury. The family suggests memorial offerings be given to the charity of the donor's choice.

Irene was born May 1, 1919 in Cropsey, IL the daughter of Ray and Ruby Alford Ward. She married Ralph L. Sweet on February 17, 1940 in Cropsey, IL. He died on May 18, 1980. She then married Dale J. Zeller in 2001. He survives in Pontiac, IL.

Other survivors include one daughter; Patricia (Bill Johnson) Kaisner, Clinton, IL; one brother; Edward (Paula) Ward, Cropsey; one sister; Eleanor Branz, Fairbury, IL; two grandchildren, three great grandchildren, three step children; James (Marcia) Zeller, Gerald Zeller and Steve (Shirley) Zeller.

She is preceded in death by one sister and one brother.

Irene was a 1938 graduate of Cropsey High School, a member of the Forrest United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Fairview Friendship Club. The family wants to say a huge thank you to the staff at MMRC. She loved each and every one of you. She was always ready to tell someone how to do their job.
