Obituary

Forrest – Russell D. Baker, 82, Forrest, died 12:39 pm, Saturday, February 17, 2007 at Greenbrier Health Care Center, Piper City.

Mr. Baker's Graveside Inurnment will be 11:30 am, Thursday, February 22, 2007 at the Forrest Cemetery, Forrest, IL with Pastor Byron Russell officiating the service. Full military rites will be accorded by J.A. Fowell American Legion Post #174 Forrest. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.

Russell was born July 31, 1924 in Bellflower, IL, the son of Roger and Mary (Parke) Baker. He married Marjorie Whitfill February 3, 1948 in Fairbury; she survives in Forrest, IL.

Also surviving are 7 sons; Russell David (Vicki) Baker Jr., Earl Baker, James Baker, Randy Baker (Shelia), William Baker all of Forrest, John (Glenda) Baker, Chatsworth , Michael (Laurie) Baker, Fairbury, 3 Daughters; Theresia (Denny) Quigley, Fairbury, Suzanne Lawless, Russell Springs, KY, Julie (Steve) Reynolds, Paxton, 1 brother; Earl Baker, Wisconsin, 1 sister; Iva Foreman, Danville, 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

His parents, 1 brother and 1 sister preceded him in death.

Mr. Baker was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in WWII. After serving his country he owned and operated Baker Scrap Yard in Forrest for over 50 years. Russell was a member of the J.A. Fowell American Legion Post # 174 in Forrest.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the Forrest American Legion.
