Ruth Ann Kohlmann, 72, Fairbury, died at 12:10am Friday, June 28, 2013 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, July 1, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church, Fairbury with Pastor Steven Livengood officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.
Visitation will be 2:00 to 5:00 pm Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given to Dominy Memorial Library or the Brian Munz Safety Complex, both in Fairbury.
Mrs. Kohlmann was born March 2, 1941 in Cowling, IL the daughter of Joseph Ellsworth and Hilda Marie Reisinger James. She married Walter Kohlmann on June 25, 1966 in Fairbury, IL. He survives in Fairbury.
Other survivors include one daughter, Kristi Wykes, Pontiac; one son, Kai Kohlmann, Bloomington; one sister, Margaret (Mike) Sundstrom, Denton, TX; two brothers, Donald (Deanna) James, Ellery; William (Janet) James, Evansville, IN; two brothers-in-law, Oscar Kohlmann, Pontiac; Keith Kohlmann, Westfield, IN; three sisters-in-law, Delores Ritter, Peoria; Jean Gradishar, Woodstock; Dorothy Pignotti, Lexington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Kohlmann was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School and Eastern Illinois University. She taught for many years in the Fairbury-Cropsey and Prairie Central school system and worked in the Livingston County Regional Office.
She was a member of the Alpha Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, Fairbury; Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle, Fairbury Garden Club, Wednesday Night Bridge Club, First United Methodist Women, the Susannah Circle, Happy Mediums, and Friends of the Dominy Memorial Library. She was an avid reader and shopper.
