Anchor – Ruth Meiners, 97 of Tucson, AZ, formerly of Anchor, passed away February 7, 2011 at her residence in Tucson.
Funeral will be held at 11:00am, Monday, February 14, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor with visitation one hour prior. The Reverend Stephen Goodwin will be officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Anchor.
Visitation will be held 2-4:00pm, Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
Ruth was born September 23, 1913 in Fairbury, IL the daughter of Henry and Charlotte Jacobs Harms. She married Peter John Meiners on December 21, 1941 in Anchor. He died July 17, 1992.
Surviving are her children, Robert (Faith) Falkner of Paradise Valley, AZ, Phyllis Youngberg of Fort Worth, TX, Robert (Sherilyn) Meiners of Anchor, Glen (Annyce) Meiners of Tucson, AZ, John (Jean) Meiners of Anchor, Richard (Ann) Meiners of Tucson, AZ; sisters, Mildred (Rufus) Meinhold Hays of Overland Park and Joanne Otto Rettke of Bloomington; brother, Stanley Harms of Bloomington; sister-in-law, Rose Orrendorf; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Floyd Harms, two sisters, Doris Ann and Lois Gleeson.
Ruth was a lifelong farmer with her husband on their Illinois Centennial Farm in the Anchor area.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor.
Ruth was an avid gardener, seamstress and enjoyed her fabric shopping trips with Doris Bielfeldt, and was unanimously voted by her family as a "Famous Cook".
She was a woman who was devoted to her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews; to Ruth family was everything.
