Scotty Leroy Long, 80 of Fairbury passed away at 9:20 pm, Monday, October 3, 2016 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.
His funeral service will be 5 pm, Friday, October 7, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Fairbury with Pastor Daryl Evans officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded at the conclusion of the service with a private family graveside inurnment to be held at a later date.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5pm, prior to the service on Friday also at the church in Fairbury. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of services.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to First Baptist Church of Fairbury.
Scotty was born January 28, 1936 in Iuka, IL; the son of Paul and Beryl (Gain) Long. He married Erline Hedrick on October 12, 1957 in Cullom, IL. His wife, Erline survives in Fairbury.
Other survivors include two daughters, Patsey (Randy) Masching of New Salisbury, IN; Wendy (Steve) Hall of Fairbury; one brother, Meryle (Dee) Long of Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren, Erin Hubbard, Ryan Masching, Emily Masching, Nikki Hall and Dillon Hall and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Mr. Long graduated from Tri-Point High School, Cullom; and later served our country in the United States Air Force. He was employed by Nussbaum Trucking Inc. in Normal for many years.
