Scytha M. Mullen, 97, of Bloomington; formerly of Chenoa passed away at 10:29 am, Monday, October 22, 2012 at her daughters residence in Bloomington.
Funeral services will be 10 am, Thursday, October 25, 2012 at the Chenoa Baptist Church, Chenoa with Pastor Christian Ricker officiating. Burial will follow in Avoca Township Cemetery, rural Fairbury.
Visitation will be one hour prior to her service at the church on Thursday. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is assisting the family with arrangements.
Scytha was born February 28,
1915 in Corryton, TN the daughter of John and Arrie Belle (Warren) Piercy. She married Charles R. Mullen on August 3, 1936 in Chicago. He passed away on March 25, 1996.
Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn (James) Hepperly of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Greg (Cathy) Whitwood of Normal; Cindy (Jim) O'Malley of Bloomington; Douglas Whitwood of Bloomington; David Whitwood of Stanford; two sisters, Alice Tull of Bloomington; Eliza Simons of Robbinsville, NC; eleven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters, four brothers and one son, Donald Mullen.
Scytha was a member of the Chenoa Baptist Church where served the church she loved in many different capacities. For many years Scy and her husband Charles owned and operated "Chuck & Scy's Drive In" in Chenoa. She loved quilting and working in her yard, but most of all loved spending time with her family and friends who will miss her deeply.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Chenoa Baptist Church, Chenoa or the charity of donor's choice.
