Fairbury – Sharon R. Walter, 58 of Fairbury, passed away February 24, 2009 at 6:03 a.m. at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.
A celebration of Sharon's life will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Fairbury with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Spencer Homan will be officiating. Burial will be in Chenoa Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 27, 2009 from 2-8:00 p.m. at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Fairbury or Dominy Library Building Fund.
Sharon was born February 22, 1951 in Pontiac the daughter of Clement "Bud" and Dorothy (Hanes) Rosenberger. She married Jay Walter on June 27, 1971 in Fairbury. He survives.
Also surviving are her parents in Chenoa; two daughters, Michelle (Josh) Clemons of Fairbury and Ashley Walter of Naperville; one granddaughter the light of her life Lillian Clemons; father-in-law Arthur Walter of Fairbury; brother, Clayton (Sue) Rosenberger of Chenoa; brother-in-law, Gary (Cindy) Walter of Bloomington; two nieces, Sheryl (Jay) Solomonson of Coal Valley and Alison (Donny) Skelton of Decatur; nephew, Clifton Rosenberger of Chenoa and several aunts and uncles.
Sharon was preceded in death by one daughter, Natalie Renee.
She worked for General Telephone Company for10 yrs, Adventure Tours and Travels in Fairbury and last worked as Executive Secretary for Fairbury Chamber of Commerce.
Sharon was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Fairbury where she was an elder, member of the choir and chairman of the Presbyterian Women. She also was a cluster leader of the Blackhawk Presbyterian Women.
She was a board member of the Spence Farm Foundation and Dominy Library and the chairman for the Economic Development in Fairbury.
Sharon held memberships with the Red Hat Society, the Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also involved as an election judge and a 4H judge at the McLean County Fair.
Sharon's hobbies included traveling, photography and all kinds of crafts, especially stamping.
Sharon's kind, giving and sharing personality led her to be an extraordinary volunteer in this community.
Her greatest accomplishment has been her family. She was an amazing and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
