Wenona – Sheila Ann Martin- Gensler, 49, of Wenona, passed away after a courageous fight with cancer, at 7:17pm, April 4, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her family.

A funeral Mass to celebrate her life will be held at 10:30am, Monday, April 8, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 207 W. 3rd Street South in Wenona.

Fr. Luke, OFM. Conv. will be officiating assisted by Deacon Fran, Deacon Charlie and Fr. Hans.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery, Wenona.

Visitation will be held from 3-8:00pm, on Sunday, April 7, 2013 also at the church and one hour prior to services on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 7:30pm on Sunday night.

Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Wenona and Toluca Fire Departments, Wenona Ambulance Association, St. Mary's Catholic Church, or Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center, Indiana.

Sheila was born January 15, 1964 in Danville, the daughter of William R. Martin and Kay Fourez.

She married Thom Gensler on April 27, 1991 in Toluca.
He survives in Wenona.

Also surviving are her children; Allison, Lucas and Joseph all at home; parents, Kay and Carlos Chacon of Venice, FL and William (Joyce) Martin of Danville; mother and father-in-law, Tom and Sandy Gensler of Toluca; sister, Lisa Smith of Bismarck; step-brother, Carlos E. Chacon of Danville; brother-in-laws, Tim (Joan) Gensler of Toluca, Troy (Tonya) Gensler of Toluca, Todd (Meigan) Gensler of Minonk; sister-in-law, Stephanie (Greg) Pumo of Downers Grove; nieces and nephews, Zachary Smith, Mollie Smith, Casper, Marlee, Jayla, Hadley, Kaden, and Loren Gensler, Daniel Knight, Makenzie, Lindsey, Kristian, Benjamin, and Maureen Gensler, and Nora and Maria Pumo; a special Uncle Loren Gensler, numerous aunts and uncles; numerous very close friends; and her best pal, her dog Peanut.

She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents.

Sheila was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wenona where she was the CCD coordinator, teacher, Eucharistic minister and a lector; the American Speech and Hearing Association; and she was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader.

She last worked for LaSalle/Putnam County Educational Alliance where she was a speech language pathologist with special needs children at Centennial Grade School, District 44 in Streator.

She also worked as a speech language pathologist with Heritage Enterprises and St. Mary's Hospital in Streator.

Sheila's campassion for others shown through in her sponsorship of many children through WBGL's Compassionate International.

She was also very supportive of the Fieldcrest Sports. Fieldcrest along with Streator and Woodland schools supported her with several fund raisers.

Sheila was an amazing person who touched many lives with her big, bright, smile and kindness. She devoted her life to her husband, children and her entire family.

She loved her church and had a very strong faith which was evident through her battle with cancer knowing that she would be going to heaven.
