Sherrill Lea Zimmerman, 78, Fairbury passed peacefully in her sleep Monday, May 10, 2010 at her home.

Memorial services will be held at 7:00pm on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with the ministers of the Fairbury Apostolic Christian Church officiating. Private inurnment will be in the South Apostolic Christian Cemetery, rural Fairbury.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:30pm on Thursday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. The family suggests memorials be given to SELCAS or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Sherrill was born in Arrowsmith, IL to the late Floyd and Marjorie (Ray) Taylor of Anchor, IL. She graduated from Anchor Township High School in 1949 and married the late George Popejoy of Cropsey in 1950 with whom she raised 3 sons, Paul (Elaine) Popejoy, Ellsworth, IL, Ray (Susan) Popejoy, and Greg (Kathy) Popejoy, both of Fairbury, IL. She spent most of her years as a homemaker. She married Donald "Zimmie" Zimmerman of Fairbury in 1984 and is survived by him. Sherrill also leaves behind one sister, Jan (the late Bob) Norton, Bloomington, IL, 6 grandchildren, Jamie (Craig) Cook, Dustin (Tess) Popejoy, John (Brenda) Popejoy, Beau (Jodi) Popejoy, Tyler Popejoy, Abby Popejoy, and 2 great grandchildren, Asher Popejoy and Charlee Popejoy.

Sherrill will most be remembered for the grateful attitude she maintained no matter her circumstance. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, and will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
