Shirlene McCarter Bachtold, 79, Fairbury, died at 12:36 pm Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at her residence, Fairbury.

Mrs. Bachtold was born January 18, 1942 in Talowah, MS the daughter of Rufus Dewey and Evelyn Starnes McCarter.  She married Roger Bachtold on September 23, 1962 in Purvis, MS.  He survives in Fairbury, IL.

Other survivors include three daughters, Dorothy (Dennis) Goodman, Sabetha, KS, Lorraine (Joseph) Bider, Aurora, IL, Sarah Bachtold, Fairbury, IL; four sons, Roger (Debra) Bachtold, Fairbury, IL, Jon (Melinda) Bachtold, Denton, TX, Joseph (Cathy) Bachtold, Fairbury, IL, Mathew (Jill) Bachtold, Spring Hill, KS; twenty grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, two sisters, Christine (John) Greatsinger, Sumrall, MS, Norma Standford, Poplarville, MS; one brother, Gary (Cindy) McCarter, Purvis, MS and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 am Saturday, March 27, 2021 at the Living Word Church, Roberts followed by her funeral service.  Interment will be at 2:30 pm Saturday in the South Apostolic Christian Cemetery, 23393 East 300 North Road, Fairbury, IL.  The family suggests memorials be given to Be Missional Inc., 20810 South Barker Road, Spring Hill, KS 66083, a nonprofit foundation she created.

Mrs. Bachtold was a member of the Living Word Church, Roberts.
