Shirley A. Bell, 75, Chenoa, died at 12:58 am Sunday, July 29, 2012 at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at the United Methodist Church, Chenoa with the Rev. Carrie Carnes officiating. Burial will be in Chenoa Cemetery, Chenoa. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa and 10:00 to 10:45 am Wednesday at the church. The family suggests memorials be given to the United Methodist Church, Chenoa; American Cancer Society; or to the Chenoa Library.
Mrs. Bell was born September 27, 1936 in Charleston, IL the daughter of Owen Roger and Mariam Gass Merimee. She married Victor E. Bell on December 18, 1954 in Charleston, IL. He survives in Chenoa.
Also surviving are two sons, Jay B. Bell and Doug E. (Tina Fitzsimmons) Bell, both of Chenoa, one daughter, Dee A. (Tim) Mallory, Fairbury, seven grandchildren, Joey, Kelli and Sam Bell, Stephanie (Shannan) Smithson; Josh Bell, Morgan and Clay Mallory; three great grandchildren, Konnor, Kaden and Kara Smithson; and one brother, James (Nell) Merimee, West Lafayette, IN.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one infant son.
Mrs. Bell was a thirty year school bus driver and was an avid antique collector. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Chenoa and was an EMT for the Chenoa Ambulance Service Association for many years.
She is greatly loved by her family and will be missed.
