Obituary
Shirley Jeanne Dohman, 79, Fairbury died at 3:15 am Friday, September 16, 2011 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30am Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at St. John's Catholic Church, Cullom with Fr. David Sabel officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic cemetery, Cullom. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 pm Monday, September 19, 2011 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. The family suggests memorials contributions be directed to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation; American Heart Association or to the charity of the donor's choice.
Mrs. Dohman was born October 4, 1931 in Streator, IL the daughter of Lavan and Wilhelmina Jacobs Griswold. She married George Louis Dohman on February 1, 1950 in Pontiac, IL. He died on October 28, 1981.
Survivors include three sons, Ron (Carla) Dohman, Fairbury, John (Judy) Dohman, Gridley, Philip (Guylaine) Dohman, Fairbury, one daughter, Rhonda (Jeff) Abbey, Cropsey, eleven grandchildren, five step grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and four step great grandchildren.
Mrs. Dohman farmed for many years with her husband, George, in the Fairbury and Charlotte areas and was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Fairbury.
Shirley was a loving mother and grandmother whose primary focus was her family. She loved cooking and gardening. Shirley spent her last months at Bickford House in Bloomington where she gained many friends that were dear to her.
