Fairbury – Sonja Scott, 76, of Fairbury, passed away at 5:45 pm, August 20, 2015 at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.
Funeral will be held at 10:00am, Monday, August 24, 2015 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Pontiac. Pastor Mary Kay Henson will be officiating.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.
Visitation will be held from 4-7:00pm, Sunday, August 23, 2015 at
Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Pontiac or Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.
Sonja was born February 19, 1939, in Fairbury , the daughter of Roy and Bertha Hoover Boles.
She married William "Bill" Scott, Jr on August 23, 1959, in Fairbury. He passed away May 21, 2013.
Surviving are her daughter, Sheila (Joe) Doran of Forrest; grandchildren, Kenzie (Brandon) Burke, and Colin Doran all of Forrest; great-grandchildren, Tracen and Joey Burke.
She was preceded by her parents and one sister, Mary Freeman.
Sonja worked in accounts payable for Fairbury Hospital and then Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community where she retired in 2004.
After retiring you could still find Sonja volunteering at Meadows. She also enjoyed volunteering for Fairbury American Red Cross with bloodmobiles.
She is a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Pontiac.
Sonja enjoyed golfing, was a very good baker, and loved fashion and shopping.
Sonja was a caring and loving woman who adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Spending time with her family and babysitting her great-grandchildren meant the world to her.
