Susan "Susie" Jane Tinges, 85, Fairbury and formerly of Bloomington, died at 10:40 pm Friday, April 21, 2017 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.

A graveside service will be at 11:00 am Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury. The family suggests memorials be given to the Community Cancer Center, Normal or Serenity Villa at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.   Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Tinges was born March 23, 1932 in Tompkinsville, KY the daughter of Raymond and Sarah Emberton Hume.

Surviving is a special cousin, Janice (Curtiss) Meiss, Fairbury.

She is preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Tinges and an infant brother, Randall Hume.

Ms. Tinges was a 1950 graduate of Forrest-Strawn-Wing High School and graduated from Mennonite School of Nursing. She worked as a medical and surgical assistant for Dr. Robert Conklin for 20 years and worked at Eastland Medical Plaza.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Fairbury; Lakeside Country Club and Crestwicke Country Club. Her hobbies included golfing, traveling, bowling, reading, movies, Broadway plays and bridge.

Sue had many special friends that she deeply loved. She went out of her way to make a positive difference in their lives. The family is grateful to Fairview Haven for their wonderful care these past 2 years and OSF Hospice in her final weeks.
