Sylvia "Kay" Shepard, 72, of Arrowsmith, died at 5:02 pm, Thursday, March 3, 2016 at her residence in Arrowsmith.

Funeral services will be 11 am, Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax with Pastor Dan Jassman officiating. Burial will follow in Wiley Cemetery, Colfax.

Visitation is from 4 to 6 pm, Monday, March 7, 2016 and one hour prior to the service also at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to McLean County 4-H program, U of I Extension Office, Bloomington.

Kay was born September 25, 1943 in Bloomington; a daughter to Clifford and Viola (Gentry) Bane. She married Bernard "Shep" Shepard on December 10, 1961 in Arrowsmith. He preceded her in death on August 23, 2013. Her parents, and one infant daughter, Roseanna Shepard also preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary (Tim) Ritterbusch of Morton; Jody Shepard of Charlottesville, VA; two grandsons, Zachary and Alexander Ritterbusch of Morton; and beloved pet dog "Molly".

Kay was an active leader of the Arrowsmith 4-H club for many years. She loved square dancing all over Illinois since 1974. She enjoyed vacationing in Branson, and traveling to many local country operas and farming her family ground with her husband, "Shep".
