Taylor William "Bill" Barrett, 77 of Chenoa, passed away at 1:35am, Friday, February 3, 2017at Pontiac Healthcare and Rehab, Pontiac.
His Funeral service will be 11am, Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chenoa, with Pastor Jeremy Latzke officiating. Interment will follow in Chenoa Twp. Cemetery, Chenoa.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 pm, Monday, February 6, 2017 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chenoa or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Bill was born November 15, 1939 in Pontiac, the son of J. Woodrow and Vista (Hepperly) Barrett. He married Sharon Wendling on November 15, 1959 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Chenoa. His wife, Sharon survives in Chenoa.
Other survivors include his three children, Doug (Yvonne) Barrett of Minooka; Dan (Colleen) Barrett of Odell; and Deb Sadler of Lexington; one sister, Carol (Richard) Piercy of Chenoa; nine grandchildren, Nick, Tenille, Tasha, Lily, Sarah, Angie, Sam, Mitchell, Miguel and 4 great grandchildren.
His parents and one son in-law, Joseph Sadler preceded him in death.
Bill was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chenoa, Pontiac Elks Club, and served on numerous boards and committees. He did land acquisition for Casey's General Stores throughout Illinois and Indiana. Bill loved his community, and was involved in many projects and proposed numerous ideas to make Chenoa a thriving community and a better place to live.
Bill was the owner and operator of Barrett Plumbing & Heating, Chenoa and Lexington. He later started Barrett Realty, Chenoa, and Barrett-Brummel. He enjoyed buying older homes and renovating them. He also enjoyed golf and traveling, especially to Daytona Beach, FL, where Bill and Sharon spent many winters. He loved spending time with his family who will miss him deeply.
