Obituary

Colfax – Thelma L. Schleeter, 94, of Colfax, passed away at 11:51am, November 29, 2017, at Heritage Health in Normal.

Her funeral will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, December 2, 2017, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax. Pastor Wayne Giermann will be officiating.

Visitation will be held from 9-11:00am, Saturday at the funeral home.

Entombment will be in East Lawn Memorial gardens privately.

Memorials may be made to Wesbien United Methodist Church, Saybrook or Macular Degeneration Association.

Thelma was born June 18, 1923, in Foosland, the daughter of Daniel and Matilda Springer Eyer.

She married Leo L. Schleeter on May 30, 1946, in Fort Monmouth, Oceanport, NJ. He passed away on November 3, 2008.

Surviving are her son, Mark (Susan) Schleeter of Decatur; daughter, Melodee (Allan) Bielfeldt of Colfax; grandchildren, Bethany (Jason) Coffman, Ethan Schleeter, Blake (Jennifer) Bielfeldt, and Rachel (Mason) Sanders; great-grandchildren, Max, Eva, and Aurhen; and brother, Chet (Gladys) Eyer of Anchor.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Harold and Orville.

Thelma worked for K-Mart in Bloomington for more than 25 years. She retired in 1992.

She was a member of Wesbien United Methodist Church in Saybrook where she was a Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, and was very involved with the United Methodist Women.

Thelma was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary, Never Too Old Club, Home Extension, and Laugh-A-Lot.  She was also involved as a Den Mother, Girl Scouts, and 4H Leader.

The Schleeter family would like to offer their sincere gratitude to the staff at Heritage Health and Transition Hospice for the love and care given to Thelma.
