Tilford "Tip" Johnson, 63, of Chenoa passed away at 11:37 am, Wednesday, November 21, 2012 surrounded by his family and friends at his residence in Chenoa.
Funeral services will be 1 pm, Monday, November 26, 2012 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa with Pastor's Christian Ricker and David Heath officiating. Interment will follow in Chenoa Cemetery, Chenoa with full military rites conducted by the Chenoa VFW and American Legion.
Visitation will be 11 to 1 pm, prior to the services on Monday also at the memorial home in Chenoa. Per Tips request, casual attire is requested for the service and visitation.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to Chenoa Baptist Church or OSF Hospice.
Tip was born December 17, 1948 in Morgantown, KY; the son of Roy and Geneva (Heath) Johnson. He married Darlene Ross on June 3, 1972 in Joliet. She survives in Chenoa.
Also surviving are one son, Tim (Anne) Johnson of Urbana; one daughter, Denise Graves of Pontiac; four grandchildren, Joshua and Piper Johnson of Urbana; Austin and Aubrey Graves of Pontiac; two brothers, Travis (Katherine) Johnson and John C. Johnson both of Paris, IL; two brother in-laws, David Schieman of Chenoa; Earl Tom (Carol) Ross of Florida; one sister in-law, Brenda Bradford of Bloomington; son in-law, Tim Graves of Pontiac; and best friend and K-9 companion, "Lil Bear".
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Tommy Johnson.
Mr. Johnson served our country from 1968 – 1970 in the US Army during the Vietnam era. Tip worked for Meadows Coop and then Prairie Central Coop for 26 years and volunteered for Chenoa Ambulance Service for ten years. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and a "Mopar Man" through and through. Tip loved life and being with his family and friends. He also loved spending time with his grandkids.
