Obituary

Pontiac – Timothy Paul Ahrens, 64 of Pontiac, passed away at 6:45am, Thursday, April 11, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be a memorial service at 6:00pm, Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at First United Methodist Church, Pontiac with Pastor Tom Goodell officiating.  There will be a time of fellowship following his memorial service also at the church in Pontiac. The family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to Madelyn Kennedy, his granddaughter, for her nursing school education fund.  Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is assisting with arrangements.

Timothy was born August 28, 1954 in Springville, NY, a son of Donald William and Doris Kingston Ahrens.  His parents and one grandson, Jayce Sipe, preceded him in death.  He married Mary McWhorter on March 15, 1975 in Pontiac.  She survives.

Also surviving are his daughter, Amy Ahrens (Shawn) Sipe of Durango, IA; granddaughter, Madelyn Kennedy of Pontiac; brothers, William (Judy) Ahrens of Florida, Donald (Karen) Ahrens of Oregon, Phillip (Josie) Ahrens and Andrew Ahrens both of Ohio; his best friend Steve Worthington; and his faithful friend, Bear.

Timothy was an operating engineer for Markgraf Materials for 30 years.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Pontiac, and a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association (NRA).
