Fairbury – Velda J. Huette, 98, of Fairbury, formerly of Forrest, passed away at 7:00am Monday, November 18, 2024, at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.
Her funeral will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the Forrest Apostolic Christian Church. Ministers of the Church will be officiating.
Burial will be in the South Apostolic Christian Cemetery, Fairbury.
Visitation will be held from 5-7:00pm, Friday, November 22, 2024, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9-9:45am on Saturday at the Church.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fairview Haven Retirement Community or SELCAS.
Velda was born February 12, 1926, in Strawn, the daughter of Andrew and Martha (Zimmerman) Koehl. She married Arthur Huette on June 14, 1945 in Peoria. He died June 7, 2001.
Surviving are her children, Curtis (Jane) Huette of Cape Coral, FL, Kay (Jay) Davis of Forrest, Vicki (John) Bellis of Racine, WI, Kevin (Toni) Huette of Hudson, and Julie (Mark) Shambrook of Roberts; grandchildren, Lisa Ekema, Chris Huette, Dustin and Devin Davis, Anna Muchow, Tami Haggard, Melissa Schafer, Andy Huette, Amy Flammer, and Ryan Huette; 25 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Jaunita Koehl of OH and Barb Huette Hurt of Fairbury and brother-in-law, Dr. John (Yolanda) Huette of CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Clarence, Virgil, Leroy and Maurice Koehl and sisters, Bernice Cox, Edith Meiss and Eldora Hoerr.
Velda retired from the Village of Forrest Water Department.
She was a member of the Forrest Apostolic Christian Church.
Velda and Art enjoyed traveling. Especially their winters in Florida
A loving wife, mother, and woman of strong faith; Velda cherished her family. They were the light of her life.
The family would like to thank the staff at Fairview Haven for their extra ordinary care over the past eleven years.
