Vergie D. Burgess, 80, Morton and formerly of Colfax died at 9:10 pm Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at her residence in Morton.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax with Pastor Richard Grey officiating. Burial will be in Wiley Cemetery, Colfax.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services. The family suggests memorials be given to the charity of their choice.
Mrs. Burgess was born July 20, 1933 in Slocomb, AL the daughter of Coley Jefferson and Frieda Caroline Keiser Trawick. She married Edward Jackson Burgess on September 2, 1949 in Phenix City, AL. He died on May 27, 2013.
Survivors include one daughter, F. Maria Allen, Morton; three grandchildren, Paul Sutton, Morton; Michael (Karen) Sutton, Des Plaines; Kala (Bob) Handegan, Morton; six great grandchildren, Maria, Cassandra, Hannah, Jordan, Abby and Jacob; two sisters, Mary Helen Wright and Geraldine (Tom) Hackney, both of Phenix City, AL.
Mrs. Burgess had formerly been employed as a secretary at Anchor Grain.
