Obituary
Vernon J. Hartman, 89, Fairbury, died at 3:45pm Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Fairview Haven Nursing Home, Fairbury.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the Apostolic Christian Church, Fairbury with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall, rural Fairbury and 2:00 to 2:45 pm Wednesday at the church. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests memorials be directed to Fairview Haven Nursing Home, Fairbury.
Mr. Hartman was born June 16, 1922 in Strawn, IL the son of Silas U. and Elizabeth Kuenzi Hartman. He married Patricia L. Bell on November 23, 1945 in Long Beach, CA. She survives in Fairbury.
Also surviving are their children, John V. (Rosemary) Hartman, Donna L. (Dale) Banwart, both of Fairbury, three brothers, Warren (Louise) Hartman, Fairbury, Wayne (Charlotte) Hartman, Racine, WI, Donald (Jo Ann) Hartman, Normal, IL, two sisters, Gladys (Don) Memler, Downers Grove, IL, Betty Hibner, Naperville, IL, ten grandchildren and thirty two great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by one brother, two sisters, and infant daughter, Jeanne Hartman.
Mr. Hartman was a 1940 graduate of Strawn High School. He served in the US Air force during WWII. He was a lifetime farmer and member of the Apostolic Christian Church, Fairbury.
