Chenoa: Vernon Lee Shiflett, 64, of Chenoa, died at 12:50 pm, Monday, February 26, 2007 at his residence in Chenoa with his family by his side.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 pm, Thursday, March 1, 2007 and one hour prior to services on Friday at the Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa.
His funeral services will be 10:30 am, Friday, March 2, 2007 also at the memorial home in Chenoa with Pastor Joe Seese officiating. Burial will take place in Chenoa Cemetery, Chenoa, with full military rites accorded by Chenoa VFW Post #8350.
Vernon was born May 21, 1942 in Chenoa, a son to Henry and Dorothy (Barnard) Shiflett. He married Mary Thacker, December 19, 1965 in Chenoa. She survives in Chenoa.
Also surviving are 2 daughters: Susan Shiflett and Sally (Chad) Decker both of Chenoa, 1 grandson Zachary Decker, Chenoa and 1 brother: Roger (Ellen Jo) Shiflett, Chenoa
He was preceded in death by both parents.
Mr. Shiflett was retired from Interlake Steel, Pontiac, he was a member of the Chenoa Baptist Church, Chenoa VFW post #8350, Chenoa Civil Defense Unit and Chenoa Fire Department for 20 years, and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Vernon enjoyed racing, hunting & fishing.
The family suggests that memorials be directed to Chenoa Fire Department, Chenoa Baptist Church or Chenoa VFW post #8350.
