Obituary
Gibson City – Verona L. Thomas, 83, of Gibson City, passed away December 25, 2008 at 12:43a.m. at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 2:00p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Gibson City with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Drummer Township Cemetery, Gibson City.
Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Thomas was born February 8, 1925 in Gibson City, the daughter of John V. and Nana Anderson. They preceded her in death. She first married Virgil Harper in 1944. He passed away in 1949. She then married Harold Thomas on April 7, 1951 in Aurora. He passed away May 6, 2008.
Surviving are three children; Steve Harper of Colfax, Pam (Steve) Bell of Bradley and Kathy Thomas of Urbana; six grandchildren, Lori Donovan of Champaign, Phil Harper of Mahomet, Libby McGuire of Minier, Eric Etherton of Bloomington, Hiliary Bell and Jon Sidener of Momence and Megan Bell and Andy Helgeson of Bourbonnais; seven great-grandchildren, Mike Donovan and Patrick Donovan both of Champaign, Victoria, Julia, Emma and Zoe McGuire all of Minier and Conor Sidener of Momence.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Lynne Etherton, one brother and one sister.
Mrs. Thomas was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Gibson City where she has been a member for 73 years and was an Ordained Elder. She also was a member of the 43 Club.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Gibson City.
