Obituary

COLFAX- Vicky Rae (Bornder) Meiner, 70, passed away peacefully at 12:49 pm on June 9th 2024, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL.

A visitation will be held Friday, June 14th 2024 from 3:00-7:00 pm at Duffy Pils Memorial Home, 201 N. Harrison St. Colfax, IL 61728.

The funeral will be held graveside at 10am on Saturday, June 15th 2024 at Wiley Cemetery in Colfax.

A "celebration of life" luncheon will be held at the Lexington Community Center, 207 Main St. Lexingtion, IL 61753 immediately following the funeral.

Vicky was born on February 14th, 1954, at St. Joseph Hospital in Bloomington, IL to Eugene and Rosemary (Whisman) Bornder. She is survived by her husband of almost 51 years, Curtis Meiner, son Aaron (Lance) Meiner, daughter Jenni Meiner, daughter Jessica (Karl) Meiner and two grandsons Theodore Isaac and Oliver Curtis Potzer, all of Colfax.

Also surviving are Vicky's 96-year-old mother, Rosemary Bornder Pool, Colfax, sister Connie (Pete) Bachman, Lexington, brother-in-law Lonnie (Paula) Meiner, Colfax, sister-in-law Pamela Meiner, Normal, IL and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces and grand pets.

Proceeding Vicky in death were her father, Eugene "Swede" Bornder, infant sister, Sherry Bornder, in-laws, Aaron and Fleta Meiner and grandparents, uncles, aunts (including her "other mother" Aunt Flo) and many cousins.

Vicky attended Lexington School District graduating high school in 1972.  She was a farm wife for all her married life, but her favorite job started 3 ½ years ago when she became a grandmother and had the privilege of babysitting her beloved grandsons.

Her birthday falling on Valentine's Day was so fitting because everyone felt she was the heart of our family. We all loved her infectious laugh and competitive spirit. She was a great fisherman and an even better storyteller.  Although, some would say her best talent was taking pictures.  She had an eagle's eye for nature's beauty.  Vick's happy place was at the cabin in Minnesota boating and fishing in the "green machine" on Sylvan Lake.  Most would say, Vicky and Curt's greatest joy came later in life with the births of their two grandsons, Theo and Ollie.  She was the best Mom and Mimi!  She will be missed forever!

Memorials may be made to Eastern McLean County Ambulance Association or American Heart Association.
