Vina L. Gardner, 94 of Chenoa, died at 10:02 am, Friday, October 27, 2017 at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am, Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Chenoa Baptist Church, Chenoa. Burial with military funeral honors will follow in Gridley Cemetery, Gridley.
Visitation will be 9:30 to 11:15 am, Monday also at the church in Chenoa. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be directed to the Chenoa Baptist Church, Chenoa or the Alzheimer's Association.
Mrs. Gardner was born October 12, 1923 in Britton, OK; a daughter to Jesse and Ruby Pearl (Snyder) Vaughn. She married Lynn E. Gardner on October 8, 1944 in Seattle, WA. He preceded her in death on July 14, 2008. Her parents, three brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.
She is survived by two daughters, Lois (Dan) Thompson and Carol (Ron) Charlson both of Lexington; one sister, Norma Jean Smith of Guthrie, OK; one sister in-law, Darlene Gardner of Lexington; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Vina served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the Colfax American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of Chenoa Baptist Church, known for her homemade pies especially her signature pear pie. Vina was an example of love and faith for her girls and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
