Obituary

W. Jean Goold, 94, Fairbury, died 9:05 pm. Thursday, May 3, 2007 at Evenglow Lodge, Pontiac.

A Memorial Service of music and meditation will be held 4:00 pm Monday, May 7, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church, Fairbury. The family will receive friends following the services in the church's fellowship hall.

Mrs. Goold was born August 17, 1912 at Freeland Park, Indiana. The daughter of William Francis and Alma Rosenberry Maggee. She married M. James Goold September 21, 1941 at Watseka, IL. He preceded her in death December 26, 1985.

Surviving are two daughters: Janet Pisha, State College, Pennsylvania, Sara-Beth (Paul) Hostetter, Fairbury, three sons: Robert Goold, Carmel, IN, Gayle (Nancy) Goold, Paxton, IL, and Bill Goold, Falls Church, Virginia. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a devoted caregiver, Grace Mayotte, Pontiac, IL.

Mrs. Goold spent her early childhood in Montana where her parents homesteaded. She was a graduate of Lyons Twp. High School, the American Conservatory of Music, Chicago, and received a Bachelor of Science degree from De Paw University, Greencastle, IN. She taught public school music, was a professional accompanist and taught private piano and organ lessons for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Fairbury where she had been the church organist for 30 years. She also was a member of the Shakespeare Club, Home Bureau, 4-H Leader, the local chapter of the American Red Cross, serving as volunteer driver dispatcher, and the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP) for 10 years. She volunteered at the Dominy Memorial Library, Helen Lewis Smith Pavilion, and Fairview Haven Nursing Home for a number of years. She loved nature, reading, knitting and was devoted to her family.

The family suggests that memorials be given to the Pratt Music Foundation c/o IL Wesleyan University, PO Box 2900, Bloomington, IL 61702 (a foundation to help talented students with a financial need); M.
