Obituary
Cropsey – W. Edward Ward, 84, of Cropsey, passed away at 6:30pm, Monday, October 7, 2013 at his residence.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00pm, Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at Cropsey Cemetery. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to OSF Hospice.
Edward was born May 1, 1929 in Cropsey the son of Charles Ray and Ruby B. Alford Ward.
He first married Lila Garmon in November of 1947. She survives in Fairbury. He then married Paula Smith in December of 1977. She survives in Cropsey.
He is also survived by his children, Charles E. (Joyce) Ward, Robert R. (Delores) Ward both of Fairbury, Beverly L. Ward of Elizabeth, IN, and John V. (Tammy) Ward of Fairbury; sister, Eleanor Branz of Fairbury; 11 grandchildren, including special granddaughter, Renee Ward Wyrick.
Edward was preceded in death by one brother, two sisters, and two grandsons.
He was a truck driver for M.C. Slater Trucking for over 40 years and was a member of the Local Union #179. He hauled steel to build the St. Louis Arch.
Ed was a member of Indian Creek Country Club, Cropsey Water Association, United States Trotting Association and Gibson City Moose. He loved golfing, enjoyed bingo and the outdoors.
He is loved by his family and will be deeply missed.
