Wayne B. Davis, 84 of Fairbury, died at 9:32 am, Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at his residence in Fairbury.
His funeral service will be 10:00 am Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the Apostolic Christian Church of Fairbury with the ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be in South Apostolic Christian Cemetery, rural Fairbury.
Visitation will be 2:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, May 16, 2014 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. The family suggests memorials be directed to SELCAS or Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.
Wayne was born March 27, 1930, in Cropsey a son to Bert E. and Ethel (Brucker) Davis Sr. He married Verla Bahler on April 9, 1949 in Cropsey. She survives in Fairbury.
Other survivors include one daughter, Mary Gail (Merle) Weyeneth of Metamora; two sons, Dennis (Kathleen) Davis and Mark (Elaine) Davis both of Forrest; one brother, Ronald "Gene" (Linda) Davis of Bourbonnais; seven grandchildren, Karl Weyeneth, Kyle (Marisa) Weyeneth, Valerie (Mike) Winterland, Jacob Davis, Craig (Maggie) Davis, Tara (Casey) Augspurger, Clint Davis; and seven great grandchildren.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one granddaughter, Rachael Davis.
Wayne was a 1948 graduate of Fairbury Twp. High School and farmed in the Strawn area from 1950 to 2006. Mr. Davis was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Fairbury, served on the Board of Directors for SELCAS for 23 years, Livingston County Board for 18 years, Supervisor of Fayette Township 18 years and Indian Creek Drainage and Ditching for 24 years. His gentle spirit and warm smile will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
