Obituary
Wendell E. Cooperider, 87, Fairbury, died at 12:05 am Friday, July 2, 2010 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Normal.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Fairbury with Fr. Scott Archer officiating. Burial will be in Cropsey Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, July 5, 2010 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with a rosary to be recited at 4:45 pm. The family suggests memorials be given to the Brian Munz Safety Complex, Fairbury, IL.
Mr. Cooperider was born December 8, 1922 in Cropsey, IL the son of Charles and Frances Pearl McClellan Cooperider. He married Josephine Margaret Brucker on October 2, 1943 in Gibson City, IL. She preceded him in death on August 31, 2006.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Cooperider, Phoenix, AZ, Stanley (Susan) Cooperider, Springfield, IL, two daughters, Beverly Bratcher, Bloomington, IL, Reta Thames, Mackinaw, IL, eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by two sisters and one granddaughter.
Mr. Cooperider was a 1940 graduate of Cropsey High School. He farmed in the Cropsey area for twenty nine years and was the maintenance supervisor at Fairbury Hospital for many years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Fairbury.
