Anchor - Wilbur J. Molck, 98 years, eight months and 14 days, of Anchor, passed away at 10:00pm, July 22, 2019 at Heritage Health in Normal.
Cremation has been accorded.
His service will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, July 25, 2019, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor. Pastor Jim Davis will be officiating. Inurnment will be in St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Friends may greet the family from 1-2:00pm, on Thursday at the church.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 16576 N. 4000 East Rd. Anchor, IL 61720.
Wilbur was born November 8, 1920, at his parent's home near Sibley, to John and Augusta (Clausen) Molck.
He is survived by his brother, Mervin (Connie) Molck of Normal; nephews, Michael (Cheryl) Molck and John Molck both of Anchor; nieces, Sheryl (Bob) Steele of Sherrard, Jane Dameron of Colfax, Joyce (Sam) Carmack of Anchor, Jan (Jeff) Alvis of Bloomington, Sue (Gregg) Paxton of McLean and Mary (Ricky) Painter of Normal; 20 grand nephews and nieces and 30 great-grand nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Eugene A. and Ronald W. Molck.
Wilbur was a graduate of Anchor high School. He served in the United States Army during World War II in Suffolk, England with the 385 th Bombardment Group. He worked for Anchor Township from 1946-1958. He then worked for the United States Postal Service from 1958-1982 until his retirement as Postmaster in Anchor.
Wilbur was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Anchor serving in several positions. He was also a 70 year member of the Colfax American Legion.
He was an avid Cubs fan and supporter of Illinois Wesleyan University Athletics.
Wilbur most enjoyed putting 18,000 miles on his Honda Helix Scooter after retirement, exploring the countryside.
