William "Spud" Floyd Ashcraft, 54, Pontiac died at 11:26 am Monday, July 26, 2010 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
A memorial mass will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, July 31, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pontiac with Monsignor Thomas Mack officiating. Inurnment will be in Payne Township Cemetery, rural Chenoa at a later date. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is in charge of arrangements.
The family suggests memorials be given to the American Diabetes Association or to the charity of the donor's choice.
Mr. Ashcraft was born May 16, 1956 in Chicago, IL the son of Charles and Diana Weatherly Ashcraft. He married Ruth Cleary on June 21, 1975 in Kankakee. He then married Joyce Spence on April 20, 1990 in Nashville, TN. She survives in Pontiac, IL.
Also surviving are his children, Dan (Kim) Retter, Chatsworth, IL, Dan (Margaret) Ashcraft, Carbon Hill, IL, Christopher Ashcraft, Winter Springs, FL, Timothy (Deanna) Ashcraft, Kankakee, IL, Jordan Brown, Chatsworth, IL, Jeffery Ashcraft, Pontiac, IL, seven granddaughters, three grandsons, two sisters, Dorcilla Schoolman, Bourbonnais, IL, Sara Camfield, Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Ashcraft was a graduate of Westview High School, Kankakee, IL. He had been employed by the Illinois Department of Corrections as the chief engineer at Dwight Correctional Center. He loved NASCAR, coaching his sons' baseball teams and was a sports enthusiast.
