Obituary

Chenoa - Wilma F. Embry, 87, of Chenoa, passed away December 13, 2008 at 1:40 a.m. at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.
Funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa. Fr. Carl LoPresti and Chaplain Jeff Roberson will be officiating. Burial will be in Chenoa Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 from 5-7:00p.m. also at the funeral home.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to Meadow Mennonite Retirement Community, Section 4.

Wilma was born April 6, 1921 in Grayson County, KY the oldest daughter of Fonzy and Maggie McClellan Salmon. They preceded her in death. She married Julius Embry on April 11, 1938 in Breckenridge, KY. He died December 14, 1986.

Surviving are three sons, Elmer (Donna) Embry of Chenoa, Francis (Debbie) Embry of Lexington and Elliott (Sandy) Embry of Bourbon, MO; one daughter Mary Ann (Larry Butler) Mohr of Cripple Creek, CO; 13 grandchildren, Michelle (David) Duncan of Gridley, Mary Embry of El Paso, Amanda (Jeff) Roberson of Clarksville, TN, Joshua (Jennifer Kubisak) Embry of Chenoa, Jeremy (Sonya) Embry of Roanoke, Courtney (Chris) Beck of Normal, Jason (Kasha) Eaton of Colorado Springs, CO, Aaron Eaton of Colorado Springs, CO, Matthew (Sarah) Embry of Bourbon, MO, Sarah (Joshua) Greenlee of Sullivan, MO, Jonathan (Monica) Embry of Chenoa, Melinda (Jimmy) Chintalcheru of Bloomington and Ronnie Embry of Fairbury; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; two daughters-in-law, Cheryl Embry of El Paso and Sharon Penn of Chenoa; two brothers; five sisters; sister-in-law Patricia Salmon of Bloomington and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, Hughie and Ronnie; brother, Elliott Salmon; sister, Emma Ward; son-in-law, Dennis Eaton.

Wilma spent her life working hard. She had worked at Livingston Manor in housekeeping and did the same for many people in the Chenoa and Lexington areas until about three years ago when she became unable to work. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Church, Chenoa. Wilma enjoyed animals, raising chickens, guineas, parakeets and rabbits. She especially lover her dog, Baby.
Sundays and holidays were always spent at her house for dinner, enjoying her garden produce, her pies and cobblers. She was a special person and will be missed and remembered by many.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Meadows Retirement Home, Station 4, for their loving care of Wilma. We always knew she was well taken care of and loved. You are all very special people!
