Winnie Lou Scott, 78 of Fairbury formerly of LeRoy died at 4:34 pm Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.
Her funeral will be 11 am, Monday, May 18, 2015 at LeRoy First United Methodist Church, LeRoy; with Pastors Floyd Blackard and Eric Swanson officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, LeRoy.
Visitation will be 10 to 10:45 am, Monday, prior to her service at the Church in LeRoy. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.
Winnie was born April 25, 1937, in Bloomington, the daughter of Samuel Guy and Joan Evelyn (Bell) Crum. She married Rader Wilson Scott on June 12, 1955 in LeRoy. He survives in Fairbury. Her childhood years were spent on the farm near Heyworth. Later the family moved to LeRoy where she attended school and graduated from LeRoy High School in 1955. Winnie and her husband moved to Fairbury in August of 2007.
Survivors include two daughters, Sonya (Michael Snider) Scott of Champaign; Shelley Schahrer of Fairbury; two grandsons, Daniel (Sarah) Schahrer and Matthew Schahrer, step-grandchildren, Steven Schahrer and Vanessa Schahrer and four step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Mary Jane Lucas; 2 nieces, Judy Ann Fonger and Susan Smith, 2 nephews, Curtis Lucas and Steven Sandage and her son in law, James Schahrer.
Winnie was church secretary at LeRoy First United Methodist Church for many years. She later worked for Northern Illinois Gas Co.
