Fairbury – Yvonne Marvine Brown, 92, of Fairbury, passed away at 10:50 am, May 1, 2012 at Asta Care Center of Colfax.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Fairbury. Pastor Steve Anderson will be officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.

Inurnment will take place at a later date in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or Dominy Memorial Library.

Yvonne was born December 21, 1919 in Forrest the daughter of Joseph and Alice Lehman Farney Jr.

She first married Otis Munz in 1954. Later in life she married Cecil Brown and made a lovely home together. They were very happy as seen walking hand in hand around town. He survives in Fairbury

Her first son died at age of three months. Surviving is her son Arnold Munz of Fairbury.

When she was young she went to a fancy cooking school up north then cooked and cleaned for a rich couple who ran the Fox Brewery. Then she came home and worked at Farmer's Grain.

She had a garden and canned the produce. She also planted various kinds of trees including fruit trees and canned the fruit. She made lye soap, butter, and ice cream.

The Munz family butchered a cow every year and she saw to it that the extra meat was stored in a rented locker on Main St. next to Steidinger Tire.

She played piano in church, taught Sunday school, and was a member of the Women of the Church of God doing charitable work. She was involved in the annual church picnic in Forrest Park.

She and Cecil liked to ring the kettle bell at Dave's around Christmas. She worked at McDonalds, Motorola, Quasar, CTS and sold Avon.

When her son was young she had him sell bittersweet door to door for fall decorations. It grew wild on their farm.

She kept a beautiful home. She loved to entertain with fine meals. She bought her son a horse when he was young and he rode it all over town.

She was honest, loving, and hardworking.

She made custom wedding cakes for people that would put the bakery to shame.

She had a beautiful, large flower garden.

She loved her son very much. She taught him how to live right and took him all over the country from Disneyland in California to the White House, to the beaches of Florida, to a dude ranch by train to Colorado and a lot of other places. She was a beautiful role model and her son has been very fortunate to have been raised by her and his Dad. She was a warm, loving, kind woman who helped a lot of people.

As she lay dying her son said to her "I wish I could help you Mother." And she replied, "It's all right, I had a good life."

Yvonne had an absolute faith in God.
