Fairbury – Zelma Davis, 82 of Fairbury passed away at 2:20pm on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Fairview Haven Retirement Home, Fairbury.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30am, Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. Pastor Steven Livengood will be officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.
Visitation will be held from 4-7:00pm, Friday, September 14, 2012 also at the funeral home in Fairbury.
In lieu of flowersthe family suggests that memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Fairbury or Fairview Haven Retirement Home.
Zelma was born October 29, 1929 in Anchor the daughter of Woodson and Blanche McClellan Murrell.
She married Howard Davis in November 1, 1945 in Bloomington. He died in 1975.
Surviving are her children; Linda (John) Stiles of Cropsey and Darrell (Joanne) Davis of Chenoa; grandchildren; Otis (Mayumi) Smith of Hokkaido, Japan, Rick Murray of Cropsey, Matt Davis of Chenoa, Geoff Davis of Meadows, and Josh (Amberli) Champion of East Dundee; great-grandchildren; Brandon Smith and Vincent Champion; sisters; Betty Thomas of New Lenox, Velma Grant of Bloomington, Vauna Painter of Foosland, and Josephine Curry of Sedalia, MO; brothers; John Murrell of Fairbury, Raymond (Barbara) Murrell of Saybrook, Russell Murrell of Bloomington, Leonard (Iris) Murrell of Colfax, and Robert (Bea) Murrell of Fairbanks, AK.
Zelma was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister Gladys Bradley.
She owned and operated with her husband Davis Dairy in Fairbury for many years. She last worked as a prison guard for Dwight Correctional Facility for over 20 years.
Zelma enjoyed working in her yard and visiting with friends and family. The holidays were always special to her and she made them special for her family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
